
When doing business with a partner, or when looking for a new job, you often wonder about the story and the people behind a company. Who are they and what are they all about? For the curious minds among us, we will therefore outline the story behind Kaya. This is, in a nutshell, the history of Kaya.
The beginning
It all started in 1999, when Kaya Systems was founded by Peter van den Brink. Peter had previously worked as a software engineer for a computer manufacturer, but this no longer provided sufficient challenge for him. That’s why he made the choice to start his own business. When one of Peter’s acquaintances opened a store in the fashion world, he needed an ERP system. Peter was willing to develop one, so he created the first Windows-based ERP system in the Netherlands. This system solved a major problem for many companies in the market. It worked together with Outlook and websites, for example, which other packages could not do. In addition, the Windows solution was cheaper than packages from other providers.
However, the system was not an ERP system as we know it today, as it was more focused on the flow of goods and less on finances. The system was purchased by many companies and Kaya became interesting to other parties on the market. However, Peter could not deal with this market very well, so when someone offered to buy his software, he sold it. After a period of rest, Peter was eager to get to work again and started as a project manager, in which role he mainly implemented Oracle ERP systems.
The Kaya we know today
Years later, in 2012, Peter was at a client’s office, where he met two men who were interested in getting involved in Peter’s company. Peter liked this idea, and the three of them laid the foundation for the Kaya we know today. One of these men was Dick Wenning, who still works at Kaya today as Technical Director and is passionate about the success of the organization.
According to Peter, it has been crucial to Kaya’s success that we strive to be ”simply the best”. If you always know just a little bit more than another, have more passion than another, or invest more energy than another, you have a great advantage.
In all these years, the market’s confidence in Kaya has grown considerably. Kaya itself has grown and our knowledge has grown with it. We have done more interesting and difficult projects, from which we learn a lot. This also assures the market that we have the right knowledge and experience.
